The Twinning Committees of Donzdorf, Riorges and Calasparra collect the "Keys of the Villa" (13/06/2018)

The Twinning Committees of Donzdorf, Riorges and Calasparra collected on Saturday in the Municipal Auditorium of Calasparra the "Keys of the Villa" from the mayor of the town, José Vélez Fernández, who wanted to reward and recognize the work of "construction of Europe "and of contribution to the approach of the citizens that the entities are carrying out.

The mayor highlighted in his speech the work done "by those who started the road, now almost 20 years ago, and by all those who came behind, betting on a new way of understanding relationships and exchanging experiences on various issues of interest common".

The Mayor expressed his gratitude for the commitment and collaboration of all those who have made possible a solid relationship between cities, thus offering unique opportunities to acquire knowledge about the daily life of citizens of other European countries.

During the event, led by the journalist Julio Antonio Díaz, the mayors of the three sister cities intervened: Jean-Luc Chervin, mayor of Riorges (France);

Martin Stölzle, mayor of Donzdorf (Germany) and José Vélez, mayor of Calasparra.

Representatives of the Twinning Committees of Riorges (France), Elisabeth Dessaux, president;

Reinhard Deinfelder, vice president of the Europabaum Twinning Committee of Donzdorf (Germany) and Esperanza Marín, president of the Twinning Committee of Calasparra.

After the handing over of the keys of the Villa, the mayors of Calasparra and Donzdorf signed the institutional document of Twinning that was created with the aim of narrowing, even more, the existing mutual relationship between committees.

The emotional and solemn act, celebrated on the occasion of the Commemoration of the Donation of the Villa of Calasparra to the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, concluded with the exchange of gifts.

The calasparreño group specialized in ancient music, the Ensemble "La Danserye", signed the musical part with a select and evocative repertoire performed in Spanish, French and German, with which they entertained the audience of the three nationalities present.

To close, the musicians Francisco Javier García Ríos (piano) and Paquita Espín (flute) performed the national anthems.

During the stay of the French and German delegations, the City Council and the Twinning Committee of Calasparra, together with the host families, prepared an extensive program of socio-cultural activities that has served to continue uniting the cities.
