José Vélez: "It has been a great fair and next year it has to be the best in history" (10/10/2018)

On the night of yesterday began at the headquarters of the Bullfighting Club of Calasparra a new season of social gatherings, after the summer period and the Taurine Rice Fair.

As is traditional, the protagonist was the mayor of Calasparra and president of the bullring José Vélez Fernández, who together with the president and secretary of the entity Francisco García and José Martínez, analyzed the 2018 season in the town.

"It has been a great Fair, we must continue in this line so that nobody has excuses not to go to the bulls," said Vélez.

The first alderman began by showing his concern about the future of the bullring of La Caverina, given the important and urgent works that must be undertaken in it, and lent his willingness to reach an agreement with the property in order that the square "becomes municipal and the City Council, through a thorough employment plan, who undertakes these reforms, which will be good for the square and will create employment."

About the future he was optimistic: "2019 will be the year of the 30th anniversary of the fair and we have to work to present the best of our history." To celebrate, I would like to look back and pay tribute to the people, entities, professionals and farmers. They have forged this story, I give an example, the cattle ranch of El Cubo, whose bulls must return to La Caverina on such a marked date, is my wish as an amateur and as mayor. "

A great ovation of recognition, support and admiration was given to the local bullfighter Filiberto, who received a goring in the celebration celebrated in Montoro last weekend and that is in the recovery period.

The work of Ginés Hernández, presidential adviser and member of the jury of the fair, who suffered a stroke a few days ago from which he is recovering satisfactorily was also recognized.

A Ginés, soul matter of the Espiga de Plata trophy for bullfighters without horses, would have liked to hear how Vélez announced that one of its objectives is the recovery of this cycle of promotion, which stopped being held in 2014 after ten editions.

The mayor also announced his wish that in this celebration, the novilleros of Murcia had a leading role and that the bulls to fight were the protagonists of the encierro por la vereda.
