"Neither large families or at risk of social exclusion, or children with special attention or disabled have help to pay their taxes," says orange spokesman, Jesus Alajarín
Large families, at risk of social exclusion or with disabled children who require special attention will not have even one euro of aid from the City Council.
This is denounced by the municipal group of citizens after the approval of the budget by the socialist government team, "who has displayed a lack of social sensitivity more typical of the harder and unshakable right," according to the local orange spokesman, Jesus Alajarín.
On this absence of aid, the Orange spokesman has stated that "it is a markedly antisocial budget since Calasparra is one of the few municipalities in the Region in which there is no aid for the payment of taxes or fees to large families, families at risk of social exclusion, families with children with special attention or families with disabilities, not to mention support for the unemployed ".
Citizens has remarked that in front of this absence, the budget includes items for Third World aid and the payment of municipal taxes amounting to 37,000 euros, "but no one knows how or with what criteria is distributed, or who or what conditions "
For the spokesman of Citizens, "everything that is not to modify the fiscal ordinances is not serious and is a risk not only for the transparency in the management of the public money, but also with respect to the good use of the same one".
Alajarín believes that this game "could mean little more than a discretionary fund that the mayor distributes to his liking to water his clientelistic network and keep a captive voting bag."
On the other hand, the orange spokesman advocated a firm commitment to enhance tourism beyond the specific investments for festivals and bullfights.
"We are generating an imbalance with a tourism that should be the economic engine of the municipality, and that remains undeveloped or find accommodation in the budget" said Alajarín, who believes that "Calasparra must enhance and bet its natural, religious or culinary attraction to attract tourism thanks to the Cueva del Puerto, the descent of Almadenes, the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Esperanza or rice as a star product of its gastronomy ".
In this sense, Ciudadanos has proposed the creation with local funds of a Gastronomic Week based on the local variety of rice: "While 405,000 euros are invested in festivities, in tourism promotion only 27,000 are budgeted, being two complementary economic engines, and one way to balance them would be to launch this Gastronomic Week ", explained the spokesman.
Finally, the municipal group presented an amendment to create a fund of 45,000 euros to be distributed among the social and cultural associations of the town, instead of distributing only 8,300 euros between three associations, as reflected in the municipal budget, "a money absolutely insufficient to help so many people who strive in the locality to help others and create culture. "
This proposal was rejected by PSOE and IU, who argued that tensions could be generated among local associations, "something absurd and unfair, since it is the government team that generates these tensions with their pyrrhic and discretionary distributions to associations" .
Finally, Citizens has criticized both the fund and the form of the budgets, since the debate has been of the accounts of this same exercise and not those of next year, "which leads us back to a delay that makes us fail to comply with the law and has led us to a debate of some exhausted accounts and with no margin ".
Alajarín also regretted that the mayor himself takes it for granted that these approved accounts will be extended by 2019, "thus demonstrating both an evident lack of respect for the opposition parties but also all the Calasparreños."
