Ciudadanos has denounced that the salary of the mayor, the socialist José Vélez, has increased by 25% between 2015 and 2018, going from 35,000 euros per year to the current 43,650.

"It's the Calasparreño that probably has increased the salary in that period of time, but I guess something will have to see that these rises approve them with their vote and that of the party mates that has placed in the government team" , lamented the local orange spokesman, Jesús Alajarín.

"This increase contrasts above all with the situation of the neighbors, who see how Calasparra is increasingly depopulated, enjoy fewer opportunities and less industry, and the only thing that rises is unemployment," said the spokesman.

For Calasparra Citizens "it is inadmissible that the mayor take advantage of the help and collaboration of the councilor of IU-Greens, Ricardo García, in this so shameful way, while we are one of the few towns in Murcia where there is not even a help for the payment of taxes to large families, disabled people, families with children with special educational needs, long-term unemployed or families at risk of social exclusion ".

Citizen spokesman also noted that in the last budget, the 2018, approved in December with the votes of PSOE and IU, include an income for the mayor for three years.

Alajarin recalled that although in July 2016 the mayor has already requested the payment of these three years retroactively since 1999, "his request was rejected by the Local Government Board, prior to a report by the then municipal auditor who certified that these three years could not perceived as they did not conform to current legislation. The orange spokesman stressed that he has requested the municipality the payroll of the mayor from January 2018 up to three times, to check that income is not included for three years: "We had to make this request because, despite what they promised, the mayor and Councilman García have published their payrolls in the transparency portal, except on one occasion ".

For Citizens Calasparra these revenues for three years in the payrolls of the mayor and that appear in the budgets of 2018 may not be legal and therefore the orange spokesman announces that "once we have this documentation, will be brought to the attention of the Prosecutor of the Region of Murcia".
