Agriculture verifies that Calasparra Sinclinal wells are at full capacity (10/07/2017)

The nine wells of the Calasparra Sinclinal are at full capacity so that the irrigators of the Central Syndicate of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct (Scrats) can extract the water that is put at their disposal, according to what the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock And Francisco Jódar, who visited the Almadenes II well today in the municipality of Cieza, accompanied by Miguel Ángel Ródenas, president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS).

This initiative is framed in the drought decree for the current hydrological year, which ends on September 30, and which will be extended until September 30, 2018. Extraction work in the nine wells will provide 30.9 cubic hectometres of water, whose average pumping per well is between three and four cubic hectometres of water per month.

The head of Agriculture stressed "the important work of collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment to make water available to our irrigators in what is being one of the worst droughts in history."

Jódar also noted that "this is one of the short-term measures in which the regional government is working with the Ministry, while working to achieve a Regional Water Pact with which to have a single voice that allows to claim The needs of the Region of Murcia to reach a final solution that brings water now and forever.

In this regard, the Minister of Agriculture recalled that "this week will be the first joint meeting with all parliamentary groups to reach the Regional Water Pact, which we hope to arrive this July."
