Delivery of the prizes corresponding to the 2017 Season in Calasparra]

More than two hundred fans attended the afternoon of the awards for the 2017 season in Calasparra, at a gala that was held at the restaurant-hall Albero in the town, organized as every year by the Bullfighting Club of Calasparra.

After tasting the best rice in the world, the prizes were presented and presented by Pedro Marín Mellinas.

The bullfighting clubs and associations of the town and the Region of Murcia were represented at the event.

Together with the president of the Taurine Club Mr. Francisco García, the gala was presided over by the mayor of Calasparra, Mr. José Vélez, and Ms. Isabel Bueso, regional secretary of the Presidency of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

The Awards of the III Taurine Photography Contest were presented, awarded to Fernando López García and Alfonso Pérez López.

Then, the Caballero Brothers, owners of the bullring of La Caverina, founders of the Rice Fair and the Taurino Club, were named honorary members.

Next, it was the turn for the prizes corresponding to the XXVIII Taurine Rice Fair.

All of them were present and thanked for the awarding of the prize, while highlighting the importance for them of having been the best in a fair of prestige and the demand of Calasparra.

The 2017 Annual Distinctions were delivered at the same event, being this year worthy of the same, the livestock of Miura on the occasion of the 175 years of antiquity.

The bullfighter Rafael Rubio "Rafaelillo", for his successes and for being the bullfighter in active that more times he has bullied cattle of Miura.

The artist Nicolás de Maya, for constantly demonstrating that bulls are culture.

Finally, the Association of Practical Amateurs of Calasparra was also distinguished for its dissemination of the art of bullfighting among people of all ages, especially among the youngest.

Likewise, Young Bullfighters of Calasparra, Youth Section of this Bullfighting Club, distinguished Florencio Fernández Castilla, "Florito", for his support of the Calasparra Bull Run and the initiatives of this youth section.

Before the final turn of interventions by the authorities, the highlight came with the delivery of the Espiga de Oro Trophy to the novillero winner of the Rice Fair 2017, a prize awarded to Jorge Rico.

The emotion surpassed those present

The speeches of Francisco García, president of the Bullfighting Club of Calasparra, closed the event and he thanked the fans for their presence in the first place.

He said that the Club will continue to defend the bulls and the Calasparra Fair, encouraging the fans throughout the year and working for the bulls.

The Autonomous Secretary Isabel Bueso, showed in his speech the commitment of the Government of the Region of Murcia with the Fiesta de los Toros.

He promised to promote the Bureau of Bullfighting from the Ministry of Presidency, and to continue defending and promoting the bulls in the Murcia Region.

Finally, the mayor of Calasparra José Vélez, reaffirmed the institutional commitment of the City Council with the bulls, making a passionate defense of the Fiesta.

He reminded those present of the importance of bullfighting for Calasparra, both culturally and economically.

He thanked his work and congratulated the entrepreneur Pedro Chicote, confirming that he will continue being a businessman from Calasparra next season.

The gala was marked by the emotional memory of those who left us.

Being present his son, especially to the figure of D. Victorino Martín Andrés, to whom the greatest ovations of the afternoon were dedicated.
