The municipality commemorates these days the International Day against Gender Violence with a program that lasts until Friday, December 1 (28/11/2017)

The central act took place this Saturday in the Plaza de la Corredera, where the mayor of Equality, Mari Carmen López Alba, proceeded to read a manifesto.

Also remembered were the 45 women murdered by sexist violence and the 8 minors who have been murdered during this year, which leaves many reasons for reflection and struggle.

What are we doing wrong? Asked the guests of the special program of Radio Calasparra.

The space again put the emphasis on awareness, prevention and denunciation as tools to eradicate the macho violence suffered by thousands of women in our country and around the world, and threw the data of the last year: 20 files opened in the municipality, three of them minors, according to the data provided by the CAVI, the Center for Attention to Victims of Gender Violence in the Northwest.

"Respect, tolerance, education in values of equality and solidarity are our weapons and the only way out of ending violence", in the words of López Alba.

"We must be very careful with what our children see and hear, the media perpetuates a woman's role that makes her vulnerable and reifies her, songs, messages, do a disservice to equality and, if there is not equality, someone may think that is above, and ends up being imposed at any price, "said the Inspector of Police Luisa Velasco.

Repulse in the classrooms to Gender Violence

The rejection to the Gender Violence has arrived this year also to the classrooms, and the educational centers of Infantile, Primary and Secondary of the municipality have carried out different symbolic acts.

The IES Emilio Pérez Piñero, concerned about the alarming rise of cases of male violence among adolescents, has carried out various activities aimed at awareness and prevention, such as theater and talks.

The screening of the documentary "volar" puts an end to the programming of this year.

This is the film directed by Bertha Gaztelumendi in which nine women with a past of gender violence tell their experiences and their life's journey in the first person.
