To defend the interests of people and thus Calasparra Murcia, took place last December 16 at the Municipal Auditorium in Calasparra, a meeting open to public participation.
The event was organized by the Platform in Defence of the River Segura de Calasparra, which is against the casing and decrease in river flow.
The national convener of recent creation, is composed of associations, organizations, communities of irrigators, agricultural cooperatives, political parties, etc.
in our town.
This platform aims to make a series of actions, together with the already established Cieza platform to inform and educate all residents of the municipalities bordering the immense damage that would carry out the piping of the Segura river flow, and lobbying the central government to remove once and for all the project, taking into account that there are other alternatives to achieve the objectives of that plan, which are cheaper and would not create the tremendous environmental, economic and social development that would rigged the said purpose.
The information table was made by José Antonio Herrera, a representative of Ecologists in Action, Alberto Martinez, representing the communities of irrigators, Ricardo Garcia, the United Left, and Jesus Martinez, the Popular Party, also a member of the platform.
After the speeches of the speakers, opened a turn of speech in which attendees were able to almost full capacity to ask questions and express their total rejection of this initiative the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
