The Department of Education announces the details of starting the new school year (04/10/2011)

Councillor for Education, Teresa Salinas, explained the details of the start of the school year 2011-2012.

Salinas explained that since the beginning of the current legislature has had several contacts with all schools to ascertain the situation and needs of each.

In this regard, Teresa Salinas announced that the mayor has already requested a meeting with the Minister of Education, Training and Employment to transfer all the relevant issues.

For the current school year, Salinas has stated that continuing the program of free Text Books subsidized by the city for students from 4 th, 5 th and 6 th grade, to which is added the creation of the Bank of Books.

As for schooling, Salinas gave some insight.

Specifically there are 88 students in lower primary education, 298 in the second and 619 in primary education.

In secondary education, the IES Emilio Pérez Piñero is 654, and 107 in school Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

Among the tasks the Municipal School Board has set for this course, the councilor said that is the approval of the Municipal Plan Against Truancy and Dropout Early.

In this regard, Teresa recalled that it has initiated a process of debate and participation that the City expected to be as broad as possible for the drafting and implementation of the Plan in question.

Another task, as the Councillor for Education, will continue to advance the educational map local knowledge and meet the needs of local competition and have to do with the facilities of schools, among others.
