Ecologists in Action alleging the use of a closed quarry as illegal dumping in Calasparra (11/08/2009)

Ecologists in Action, recently denounced the existence of an illegal landfill in the town of Calasparra.

This is an old quarry, now closed, and is being used for waste disposal and uncontrolled illegal.

The facilities would lack any planning or environmental authorization for the exercise of the activity as dump and final treatment of waste.

Ecologists in Action said in its complaint that the area not only shed debris, but all kinds of waste, making this place a real landfill and a source of ill health.

The landfill is located in the Sierra de San Miguel.

This is a mountain of municipal property, officially known as "head of the Yesera and the Doctor", which is listed on Public Utility, with number 142. The landfill covers an area of approximately 20,000 m2.

Ecologists in Action has claimed in its complaint the opening of disciplinary proceedings, the immediate closure of the landfill and environmental remediation of the area
