The Department of Information and Communication Technologies, directed by Antonio Merino, requested membership in this European program a few months ago.
Calasparra, Murcia and Ricote have been the selected municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
The demand to access this program far exceeded the number of places that were available in this call.
Of all the participating countries seven of them (Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Romania, Austria and Hungary) reached to cover the maximum number of participants allowed for from one Member State.
This program has been very well received among the Member States, with 2,000 applications received in the first 2 seconds of its launch being submitted to the first call.
The published list includes a list of 1,780 municipalities that will benefit from this program, 4EU WiFi, across the EU, selected from the 25,000 registered municipalities.
This call has a budget of 26.7 million euros and 1,780 municipalities will each receive a grant to configure Wi-Fi hotspots in public spaces.
From the City Council of Calasparra the news has been received with enthusiasm, waiting for it to be beneficial for all Calasparreños and Calasparreñas.
