Schoolchildren from the Calasparra Infant and Primary schools have joined this Tuesday to the gatherings that have taken place around the world on the occasion of the School Day of Nonviolence and Peace.
The event held in the Plaza de la Corredera has included dances, the reading of a story for peace, songs in defense of a more just society and respectful of human rights, slogans against violence and the reading of a manifesto by the director of the CEIP Our Lady of Hope, Salomé Zapata, who this year has been the center in charge of its organization.
An act that has served to remind us that, to be peaceful and respectful, you also learn.
While all this was happening in Calasparra, from Syria come the echoes of the bombs that do not stop, just as they do not in Yemen, Afghanistan or South Sudan, among other places.
Cities and towns where children have not been able to celebrate this day.
In contrast, far from these conflicts, schoolchildren in Calasparra have returned to join their voices to try to get where violence prevails, thus giving encouragement to those who do not have their luck.
All an example on a memorable day that reminds us that children are the most vulnerable group but, at the same time, the one that can undertake the change that leads us to build a more just and nonviolent world.
