Calasparra is among the 17 cities that have founded the National Association of the Mediterranean Basin Rock Art, World Heritage.
The objectives of the new entity, whose act of incorporation was held last week at the Archaeological Museum in Madrid, go to promote conservation and appreciation of the paintings and promote joint management.
A total of six regions, 16 provinces, 17 municipalities and 11 associations formalized the founding act of this national institution.
The main objectives include the promotion of cooperation among agencies, organizations and institutions for the preservation and appreciation of rock art, promote and develop joint management and reporting programs to obtain financial funds for the protection and disclosure of this artistic expression.
Councillor for Tourism Calasparra, M ª Dolores Gomariz, traveled to Madrid to attend the founding ceremony, and that the City is part of the board of the new entity.
Gomariz recalled that in recent years have been a number of important actions have been carried out conservation and consolidation in the cave paintings of Abrigo del Pozo.
The event was chaired by the Director General of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of Culture, Mari Angeles Albert de León.
