The construction of a suburban district, the construction of a dry port in Calasparra and supra-station access to high-speed train are the three proposals submitted by Jesus Navarro at the conference on the future of sustainable transport in Murcia region "held last Friday in Calasparra by the Federation of Transport, Communications and the Sea of UGT-Murcia, and City Hall.
The event featured keynote speakers, among whom were Nicholas Vincent (Secretary General of UGT - TCM), Jesus Navarro (Mayor of Calasparra), Antonio Jiménez (Secretary General of UGT - Murcia), Adrian Angel Viudes (Chairman of the Port Authority), Jose Guillen (Director General of the Public Transport Authority), Diego Peñarrubia (Director of Development of the Government Commission), Maria José Lajarín (President of the Citizens Movement South Coast), Agustin Arrieta ( Director of Science degree European Transport and Logistics at the University Camilo José Cela), Eduardo Hernández (Secretary of Territorial Action and Policy Association of UGT).
The event was closed by Carmen Maria Sandoval (Director General for Transport and Ports of the Region of Murcia) and Immaculate Marcos (Secretary of Communications and Public Policy of TCM - UGT).
In the conclusions, all speakers agreed on the importance of communications for the development of the Northwest Region of Murcia, also the River Mula, Cieza and municipalities outside the Region.
The opening of the conference was given by the Secretary General of TCM - UGT and where Jesus Navarro raised his interesting project: The construction of a railway that would unite and Calasparra Caravaca (in Cehegín the station would be located in the "knot Cayetana "about 2 km from the town center), while the new station would Calasparra, as proposed, about 2 km from the present.
The old station would become a stretch to get to the Venta del Olivo which would develop the other major proposal, a large train station.
Thus all citizens of the Northwest and the municipalities mentioned above, would have access to AVE.
The distances to be reduced significantly and Madrid would be very beneficial to the economy, as far as freight is concerned.
All this with only building 26.6 km of railway.
This line county greenway and recover the line to Murcia from Caravaca, which refers to Cartagena and the future Corvera airport, so that means, said Navarro.
The proposal, presented by the Mayor of Calasparra, would place our region and our city, in the center of very important lines of communication as would be the right rail and highway of the North (that would unite us with Valencia) and give service to 15 municipalities more than 250,000.
In short, the proposal of Navarro is a major economic boost for the Shire, as have some of the participants of the day, also for the construction of a dry port in Calasparra, which focus on freight and would be an important pillar of development .
In relation to this Puerto Seco, President of the Port Authority said the project is in a sweet moment and praised the proposal.
Jesus Navarro for his part closed by saying that "it is time to be ambitious to keep the train from the train."
